Shining Stars in the Community!

Shining Stars

Shining Stars is our audition-only advanced performance company designed for dedicated young performers who are ready for a more intensive theater experience focused on performance growth, ensemble work, and community opportunities.

While many performers auditioning may be ages 12+, Shining Stars is not simply the “next level” based on age. Admission is based on audition results, readiness, commitment level, and ensemble fit. We intentionally keep this company small, with a limited number of spots available each season.

We welcome anyone interested to audition. Performers who are not selected for Shining Stars will still be encouraged and invited to join our Center Stage cast, which continues to include many performers ages 10–14. In fact, approximately two-thirds of our Center Stage cast each season falls within that age range.

Season Commitment

Shining Stars performers commit to the full season from August 2026 through the first week of June 2027. Both productions for the season will be cast in August, so performers should be prepared to commit to the entire season at the time of auditions.

In addition to mainstage productions, performers will: perform throughout the community, participate in theater competitions, and work in a more advanced rehearsal environment.

2026–2027 Productions

Grease: School Edition

Performance Dates: January/February 2027 (TBD)

Final Tech Summer Camp

A required half-day tech camp for the final production will take place: May 31 – June 3, 2027

Casting Process

Both productions will be cast after the first day of class. The first rehearsal will function as a callback process to help determine final casting for both productions.

Audition Information

Students auditioning for Shining Stars will receive:

  • A list of songs from both productions to choose from
  • A list of monologues to prepare

Auditions will include:

  • Approximately 1 minute of a selected song
  • One prepared monologue
  • A dance combination taught during auditions

Following auditions, we will select approximately 25 performers for the Shining Stars company. Families will receive audition results within 72 hours.

During auditions, families will also be asked if their performer would like to be considered for a Center Stage production if they are not selected for Shining Stars. Performers who are not cast in Shining Stars will not need to attend the regular Center Stage auditions on August 8th. If our directing team feels a performer is being considered for a specific role in a Center Stage production, they may be invited to attend callbacks on Sunday, August 9th. Otherwise, they will automatically be considered for Center Stage casting without needing to re-audition.

Center Stage cast lists will be released before the first rehearsal on August 13th.

We are excited to continue building a strong, encouraging, and high-level performance company where students can challenge themselves artistically while continuing to grow their love for theater.
